The Queensland Police Service has received many reports of people missing since extreme weather events caused devastation in the Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley areas earlier this week.
To date, police have dealt with more than 200 missing persons reports, which have since been resolved. There are now only 14 people reported as missing as a result of this event.
Credible and reliable information provided to police indicates that these people were caught up in the storm surge that swept the valley, and police hold grave fears for their wellbeing.
Police have consulted with the families who have agreed to take this step and release the names of loved ones in an attempt to help locate them.

Summary of missing names in alphabetical order (Lockyer Valley missing only)
NOTE WELL - Most of the people on this list are most likely fine, but their friends and relatives have been unable to get in contact with them. I have re-contacted all the people who originally made reports and if they still have not heard from them there will be a *Still missing next to their name.
If you are media, please DON'T post this list as a definitive list of those feared lost in the floods as that is not what it is. The list above for whom grave fears are held is the only one media should be using as an official missing list.

MISSING
Displaced Lockyer Valley residents are urged to contact police as soon as possible.
Any residents of the Lockyer Valley who have not yet spoken to police to advise they are safe are urged to do so.
Lockyer Valley residents can phone police on 4631 6333.
Authorities are urging anyone who has been evacuated, either at the direction of authorities or having initiated such a move themselves, to register on the National Registration and Inquiry System (NRIS).
This is so friends and family are able to reassure themselves that you are safe and that emergency services are able to concentrate on looking for individuals who may be missing as opposed to simply out of contact.
Registration of your details on the NRIS system can be achieved in several ways, including via the internet www.redcross.org.au, by telephone on 1800 727 077 for callers in Australia or international callers on +61 393 283991, or by completion of hand written forms at nominated evacuation centres.
By entering your data you can save needless worry on the part of those who care about you and free up valuable emergency services resources.
If you are unable to contact those within the flood impacted area, you should first enquire with NRIS on 1800 727 077 for callers in Australia, or international callers on +61 393 283991 or at www.redcross.org.au

safe as the phone is down. She has two children Andrew and Caroline Ann but
they are young adults and may not have been in Toowoomba during the flood. Any

Grace HAMMOND G'day Nicole, from glorious Gippsland, Have received an email from Joe Dumond in Canada, this morning, Tuesday 18th January, 2011. He has only a Box number at Toowoomba for Grace's address. I cannot find her on white pages. He has not heard from her since the flood and is concerned for her welfare and circumstances, as am I. Perhaps the phone lines are still down, or lack of power. However we are worried and concerned for her nonetheless. Would be most grateful for any new concerning her .... thank you for your site.... God bless, love and best wishes Wendy.
