From Sue Frew - I have just found both Robert Barker from Vista Crt, Heathcote Junction and Steve Henderson from Marks Rd, Kinglake West. They are both safe and well. The day has started on a good note. Good luck to all you others looking for friends and family.

Keep hope guys - someone on ABC radio just learned that a friend of theirs was found safe on their farm which was burnt to the ground - after 3 days missing. Kinglake West area.

Wondering if anyone knows if the little white weatherboard antique/nursery/tea rooms place opposite and up a bit from the Kinglake SES building survived. I think its called Rose Cottage or Rosewood Cottage or something like that. The lady who runs it (sorry, I'm dreadful with names - Eileen? Elaine?) is really lovely and its our favourite place to visit. My daughter keeps asking to go see the 'chook lady' (has chooks out the back) and I don't know how to tell her the beautiful place we love with the kind owner may be gone. I'm praying they're safe - as I'm praying for everyone else sought on this list. Kind Regards,  Natasha

Australian bush fires: survivors and victims of the fire that claimed Kinglake's Pine Ridge Road

The Australian bushfires that swept through the community of Kinglake claimed up to 20 lives in a single street, Pine Ridge Road. But others survived.

From house to house, their fates were different - and in some cases entwined.

ODD SIDE

No 1

Eileen Gillespie, 58. Lived alone, died in fire.

Nos 3, 5 Vacant lots

No 7

Sam Gents, coffee shop owner in Melbourne. Was at work, survived.

Partner Tina Wilson and children Crystal, 15, Nathan, 13, and Teagan, six, all at home, with a visiting woman friend of Tina's, tried to escape, failed, and died after taking refuge in neighbouring house.

Robert Richings, maintenance fitter. Was at work in nearby town, when he was called home because of the fire. Was one of last three to drive out successfully and survive.

Jen Richings, his wife. Was at home, husband drove her to her uncle's house as flames approached, survived.

No 11

Kevin Hainsworth, truck driver, wife Jackie Hainsworth and their son Jackson, aged six. Fled together in car through the flames down the mountain, sought refuge in next village, survived.

No 13 is a double lot with no 15

No 15

Craig Draper, construction worker, partner Heather Owen, children Tania and Tamara. Mr Draper drove family to safety, returned to defend house. Last man to flee successfully (with Phil Shea, no 19).

No 17

Jamie Hensel, tree surgeon, partner Candice Holmes, children Chloe, six, and Brodie, six months. Mr Hensel was away, Ms Holmes and children tried and failed to flee village by car, but reached Kinglake central and survived by taking refuge with others on the sports pitch there.

No 19

Phil Shea, self-employed builder, wife Vanessa, daughters Rachel, 12 and Chantelle, 10. Mr Shea took his family to Mr Richings's uncle's farm lower down the mountain (farm and all vehicles destroyed but house survived). He returned to defend the house, last to leave with Mr Draper in his car.

No 21

Philip and Gwyneth Ferrell, retired, and their daughter Caroline.

Caroline believed to have escaped, parents' whereabouts currently unclear.

No 23

Barbara Grove. Whereabouts unknown.

EVEN SIDE

No numbers 2 or 4

No 6

Markus Baxter and Leanne Beattie. Both escaped just as flames arrived, and survived.

No 8 is a double lot with No 10.

No 10

Keith Chasemore, 66, truck driver and partner Sigrid Roewer. Fled on foot, watched fire destroy their house from paddock up the hillside.

No 12 is a double lot with no 14

No 14

Paul Roland, fitter and turner, wife Karen, children Caitlin, 14, and Nicola, 12. Family tried to flee in car, were turned back at roadblock as fire was approaching, all died in neighbouring brick-built house where they took refuge.

No 16 Vacant lot

No 18

Jennifer Gaskett, lived alone, daughter of Ferrells at number 21, believed to have been staying with relatives in Melbourne.

No 20

Brett Scott, steel finisher and polisher, partner Sharlene Johnston. Drove out as flames approached. Survived.

Beyond No 20 the road bends up the hill where there are a few further houses, more spread out and isolated. It is thought there were more deaths in these houses, but the exact numbers are unclear and identities have not been confirmed.

Police have confirmed 10 as either dead, or missing believed dead on the street, of whom nine have been named. They believe that up to 12 others, both residents and visitors, may have died in the street as a whole, or while escaping from it.

Anyone have any news on Sue Forrester & Bill Molyneaux at Wombat Bend, Dixons Creek?

Hi, I'm actually emailing for a friend of mine who doesn't have net access atm, her name's Kate Rushen. She's looking for one of her friends; Rhys Elliot from Dixon's Creek, she hasn't been able to get in touch with him all week but I'm assuming most of the people up that way don't have great reception if they've still got their phones at all...Anyway if you could possibly email me back or call her or even message her mobile which is 0410 207 870 she's getting particularly worried for him. Thanks so much I know how busy you are and I have searched your site, daftdoggy and herald sun message boards but have had no luck, so once again I appreciate any help you might be able to offer her.

After that last email Kate called and said Rhys contacted her via computer. He's safe so is the house, I think his neighbours house had burnt down so he was quite lucky. Thanks for all your help.

Hi, Thanks for your website and all the work you are doing.  Am trying to find out if Jenny (nee Millis) and Kieron are okay.  I usually email her dad David Millis but haven't got any reply. Her Dad has been a family friend of my parents for 50+ years and we are all worried.
I'm not sure of Keiron's surname.  Jenny works at a couple of vets around the area (think incl near Warrandyte) and has many animals incl horses.
Thank you Melinda Slade

Welcome to the Triangle. You may know it as Marysville, Buxton, Narbethong, Taggerty and Granton. Since February 7 our beautiful home has been ravaged by fire. Our families are now spread far and wide. We are waiting to come home.

If you are missing playgroup, take-a-break, kinder, school and your friends; if you just want to hear about something familiar, then this is the place. You can hear from Dena in Buxton, or keep the kids in touch with Sherrie and Megan, post some photos or simply let someone know where you are. So leave us a message, or send someone a hug and we will see you soon.

Lisa from Buxton (the one with all the boys)

John could be seen on channel 10 news & channel 2 lateline last night in the reports that were filmed at the Narby pub. Also seen on these reports that are known to our family were Jo & Johns neighbours Rob & Rae Bartlett & their family.

Hope this helps to put some minds at rest. Cheers.   Tammy (Jo & Johns Niece)

Does anyone know about the Brown family at Narbathong, their property used to be the racing stables but is now agistment. Looking for Don and Jeffery Brown and all the staff there.

Cliff Brown, who is in his second season training in Singapore, rushed to catch the last flight home to Melbourne on Saturday night, after receiving the news that the family pre-training and breeding farm at Narbethong, about 90 minutes north-east of Melbourne, was gutted in Saturday's horrendous fire-storm. Fortunately, the staff and 28 horses on Tarnpirr Farm, were saved by a stroke of good fortune, and a sturdy historic old stable that became an ark. As the fire roared into view, all the horses, including mares and foals, were gathered from their paddocks and, along with the people, crowded into the old barn for refuge - with up to three to four horses crammed into each box. The holocaust that followed razed every building on the property, including three houses, except the stone barn, one of only a few buildings left standing in Narbethong - http://www.thethoroughbred.com.au/fullstory/20090209_Anintriguingweekinracing
