The search for a 29-year-old man who has been missing from a northern WA community for almost two weeks will continue tomorrow, according to police.

Wesley Lockyer was last seen leaving the Jinparinya Aboriginal Community, about 30 kilometres from Port Hedland, on October 24 at 6am.

South Hedland Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Gordon Armstrong said family became concerned when they had not heard from Mr Lockyer for a number of days.

"He's seen [leaving the community] by family members in the morning and then hasn't been seen since," he said.

"It's a bit of a mystery for us."

Extensive search continues

Police and State Emergency Service volunteers started land and air searches for Mr Lockyer three days ago, which resumed this morning.

A mobile police facility, six police vehicles, 20 local rangers, a police drone and helicopter have also been deployed.

An area of 150 square kilometres in a three-kilometre radius from the Jinparinya Aboriginal Community is being searched.

Senior Sergeant Armstrong said concerns were held for Mr Lockyer's welfare.

"We've got a large-scale land search going on right now out at the community [and] a large contingent of police and volunteers out there," he said.

"We're doing everything we can to find out where he actually is."

Senior Sergeant Armstrong told the ABC there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding the situation.

"The community is quite close to the highway, so anything is possible," he said.

"He may have been picked up by friends and family and gone somewhere.

"He would normally advise his family of him being away and that hasn't occurred in this situation."

Call for community help

Senior Sergeant Armstrong said at this stage, police had "no idea" where Mr Lockyer was, but urged the community to come forward with any information.

"There's been a number of conversations he might be in different communities, we've followed those leads up and they've come to no avail," he said.

"We've obviously put the message out on Facebook trying to get some community information.

"We're not receiving much information as to where he might be but anything we do get, we're following."

Mr Lockyer is described as being 182 centimetres tall, of solid build, clean shaven and with black hair in a mullet style.

He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and grey shorts.

Anyone with information about Mr Lockyer's whereabouts is urged to call police on 131 444.

Family helping with search

Senior Sergeant Armstrong said the family was "holding up very well".

"They're out at the community where we are with our resources and we're talking to them constantly and they're also helping us with information," he said.

"A group of his family and friends are actually helping with the search as we speak."

Police will deploy drones and specialist Indigenous rangers on Monday in a fresh bid to find a man missing in the State’s north west.

His family has released new photos of Wesley Lockyer in honour of his 30th birthday, in the hope that anyone with information on his disappearance will come forward.

The family previously enlisted a private investigator who had been involved in a number of high-profile missing person cases to find the missing South Hedland man.

Mr Lockyer was last seen at the Jinparinya Aboriginal Community in Pippingarra on the morning of October 24, 2022.

He has not been seen or heard from since and is believed to have left the area on foot, however, after an extensive search and ongoing inquiries, has not been located.

He is described as about 182cm tall, solid build, with black hair and a beard, and was last seen wearing a dark blue-grey short-sleeve T-shirt and brown shorts.
