Reported missing to: Drummoyne Police Station.
I have had the pleasure of speaking with Warren's Mum Judy
and she told me what a wonderful son Warren is, and how dreadfully his
family misses him.
Here are some words from
Judy - "
We
look for him everywhere. These kind of situations are extremely hard on
all family members....our daughter Kerrie is sad that he is not around to enjoy her
children. For myself, I live with hope because no matter how hard I try I
just can't see him taking his own life but a very tiny corner of my mind
says perhaps he did and that hurts because you think you know your own
children."
These are Judy's words:
Warren was working at Drummoyne Sailing Club in Sydney as casual barman
whilst at university (we lived in Drummoyne and my husband was a Director of the
club). On the night he disappeared he told us that he had booked the auditorium
at the club for his 21st which would have been in December 1993 and asked us to
keep his dinner hot. We have not heard from our son since that phone call.
We tried to report him missing the next morning 16th March to Drummoyne Police
Station and were told we have to wait 24hrs (which is rubbish). On Wednesday
17th March 1993 about 3pm a friend of ours who happened to be Chief Inspector at
Rose Bay Police knocked on our door to tell us that Warren's car and a brief
note had been found at Watson's Bay by Warren's friends. Nothing else was ever
found....no watch, keys, wallet or body.
Pat and I agreed to go on "Australia's Most Wanted" and from that several people
contacted Crimestoppers to say they had met him....Gold Coast and Cairns. These
people were consequently sent photos and videos and they all say it was
definitely our son. We and our daughter Kerrie plus some other family members
have travelled to Cairns at different times...shown his photo
around...couple of people in Cairns said they had definitely seen &/or met
him....so we live with our hope that perhaps one day........
I have had a lot to do with the NSW Missing Persons Unit based at
Parramatta especially in the first few years....appearing on several TV
programmes especially during Missing Persons Week and also agreed to talk to
police who were training as Missing Persons Liaison Officers within normal
police stations. There is a lot more I could go on with....like all the phone
calls we used to get in Sydney where no one spoke....a letter from Centrelink
addressed to Warren and mailed to our address on the NSW Mid North Coast which
the police Missing Persons Unit followed up but said was just an error on
Centrelink's part...who knows?
We look for him everywhere. These kind of situations are extremely hard on all
family members....our daughter Kerrie is sad that he is not around to
enjoy her children. For myself, I live with hope because no matter how hard I
try I just can't see him taking his own life but a very tiny corner of my mind
says perhaps he did and that hurts because you think you know your own
children.
Regards
and many, many thanks......Judy and Pat Long
Warren, if you are out there, give your Mum and Dad or Kerrie
