Victorian POLICE are concerned for the welfare of a man believed missing in the Gippsland area.

Shane O'Connell suffers from a medical condition and last made contact with a person known to him on Tuesday afternoon, about 4.30pm.

It is believed the 51-year-old is driving a silver Toyota Camry sedan, registration number PGB-891, and is in the Gippsland area.

He is described as Caucasian with a thin to medium build and fair complexion.

Police have released an image of Mr O'Connell.

Police believe a Melbourne man missing since Tuesday afternoon may have headed towards Lakes Entrance.

Police say Shane O'Connell, 51, has a medical condition and they are concerned for his welfare.

Mr O'Connell is described as Caucasian, with a thin to medium build.

It is believed he is driving a silver Toyota Camry sedan.

Police are urging anyone who sees Mr O'Connell or the car to call triple-0.
