Peter was last seen by a friend Edward Azzarrlo, who was with him in a run-about when it was hit by a large wave causing it to capsize near Botany Bay Heads at approximately 8pm. Peter informed the survivor he would swim to the shore to raise help and commenced to swim in that direction. He has not been seen since.
Peter was last seen about 8:00pm on 16 July 1994. His dinghy capsized, throwing him into the waters off Cape Banks, La Perouse. Peter's friend held onto the upturned hull, Peter attempted to swim to shore to raise the alarm, however it appears he never reached shore and is still missing. Grave fears are held for Peter's safety.
