POLICE have been forced to suspend the search for a Japanese tourist swept of
rocks near Carnarvon due to bad weather.
The 23-year-old man was washed out to sea after being caught by a large wave at
the Quobba Station blowholes on Saturday.
Treacherous conditions forced authorities to abandon plans to continue the

Hope fades for missing tourist - ABC
Police hold little hope of finding a tourist missing off the north-west Western
Australian coast since Saturday.
Ryota Nagaiwa was washed from the rocks at the Blowholes on Quobba Station, 70
kilometres north of Carnarvon.
His parents and best friend flew from Japan and helped search for the
25-year-old.
Sergeant John Beer from Carnarvon police says the official search for the man
was called off yesterday.
Sergeant Beer says the family and consulate officials will leave Carnarvon today
content with the search that has been carried out.
However, he says those travelling along the Quobba coast should keep an eye out
for signs of the man.
"People in boats who are travelling through or visiting that area for fishing
and stuff like that, and tourists, just be mindful that a person did disappear
in that area and if they see anything that raises suspicion give us a call
straightaway," he said.
