Canobolas (NSW) police are appealing for assistance from the public to help locate a 27-year-old man missing from Orange.

Michael Castles was last seen about 3.30pm Monday 8 August, 2011 after visiting his mother and he has not been since. She usually sees him weekly and he has not been in contact with her since.

Mr Castles was reported missing to police by family on Tuesday 6 September 2011. Police investigations reveal he has not accessed his account since 17 August, 2011.

Family and police hold concerns for his welfare as it is out of character not to keep in contact with family, and are treating his disappearance as suspicious.

Mr Castles is described as being 165 to 170 cm tall, medium build, 75 to 80 kilos, Caucasian with a tanned complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. He also has a tribal band tattoo around his left wrist and a homemade tattoo of a woman on his left shin.

Anyone with information about this incident or has information that may be able to assist investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333m 000.

Police are re-examining the case of a missing Orange man after a body was found in a paddock in the state's central west.

The body, of a man, was found in a paddock on Huntley Road in Orange about 4pm yesterday.

Canobolas Local Area Command crime manager Denise Godden said she could not comment on whether the death was suspicious.

Police will continue to search the paddock today.

Police said in a statement that the body had not been formally identified and identification was expected to take some time, given the state of the remains.

A police spokeswoman said it was "definitely a line of inquiry" that the body could be that of missing Orange man Michael Castles.

Mr Castles was last seen by his mother on August 8 and has not been seen since. He has also not accessed his bank account since August 17.

Inquiries are continuing and anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

POLICE believe a body found in a paddock on Huntley Road on Wednesday afternoon may be that of missing Orange man, 27-year-old Michael Castles.

Canobolas Local Area Command crime manager Denise Godden said it would take some time to identify the body, however, Mr Castles’ family had been informed of the find.

Police are treating his disappearance as suspicious.

Inspector Godden said police wanted to speak to anyone who had seen Mr Castles after August 17, when he was last seen making a transaction at the Orange Credit Union in Summer Street.

Mr Castles, who is single and has no children, was reported missing on September 6.

Anyone with information that may be able to assist the investigation is urged to contact Orange Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
