15 year old Marion Nabarula Nelson was last sighted in Yuendumu Community NT on Sunday the 10th of January 1982. Marion was seen getting into a vehicle with five males known to her. The vehicle Marion and the males were travelling in ran out of fuel approximately 50 kilometres south west of Yuendumu.

While they waited for help Marion ran away from the group, reportedly running in a northerly direction into remote bushland.   

An initial search by family and the community failed to locate Marion.  Marion was reported missing to Yuendumu Police on Tuesday the 12th of January 1982. Together with police and the community a comprehensive search was conducted, however was unsuccessful in locating Marion.

Reported sightings of Marion in neighbouring towns and communities were investigated. Since Marion’s disappearance, neither her family nor police have seen or communicated with her.
