Circumstances

In November 1998, Magdeleen Dempster was reported missing by her mother after not seeing or hearing from her since August 1998. Magdeleen had been travelling from Perth to Esperance with her de-facto husband. He arrived in Esperance claiming that Magdeleen had returned to Perth alone. She has not been seen since.

The person or persons responsible for Ms Dempster’s disappearance have not been identified.

BACKGROUND:

Ms Dempster was commonly known as ‘Maggie’ to her family and friends. She was 27 years old at the time of her disappearance and lived with her partner.

On 5 August 1998, Ms Dempster‘s partner bought a white Datsun touring bus, which was similar to a camper van.  It had a pop-up roof and there was a mattress and blankets in the back. The van had a blue door on the side. Ms Dempster and her partner lived in the van.

 CASE DETAILS:

 On Tuesday 24 November 1998, Ms Dempster was reported missing by her mother after not seeing or hearing from her since August 1998. Ms Dempster’s partner reported that they had been travelling from Perth to Esperance but that during the trip Ms Dempster left him and returned to Perth alone. He continued to travel towards Kalgoorlie and across the Nullarbor Plain and into South Australia. Ms Dempster has not been seen since.
