Police are concerned about the welfare of a missing 48-year-old Korumburra woman.

They say Lynette Nott has not contacted her family since Christmas Eve, and her handbag, money, and medication for a medical condition remain at home.

Ms Nott is about 168 centimetres tall with long brown hair, no teeth, a solid build and brown eyes.

Detective sergeant Ian Ricardo says Ms Nott may have tried to hitchhike.

"There is a possibility she does have family in South Australia and again we don't know whether she has hitchhiked or not," he said.

"She hasn't been seen since Christmas Eve and we do have concerns for her welfare."
