Laula York, an indigenous woman of Yalata Mission (now the Yalata Aboriginal Community), was reported missing to Ceduna Police on 21 January 1975.
Laula was 32 yrs old and was in a defacto relationship with Maxwell John White, 39 yrs, at the time she went missing. She is described as 170 cm tall, of medium build, with brown eyes and black hair.
Police believe that Laula left Port Augusta with her two young daughters, Heather and Anne, on 13 November 1974, travelling to Ooldea to meet Maxwell White.
A short time after leaving Port Augusta, Anne returned to Yalata by herself. It is possible that at this time Laula and Heather travelled to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, to visit relatives. The visit to Kalgoorlie is unconfirmed. It is believed that Heather later returned to Yalata from Reid, Western Australia, by herself.
Laula’s disappearance remains unsolved and her current whereabouts are unknown.

Police suspect she has been murdered.
