Vic: Clairvoyant's tip prompts search for missing man

2002

A tip-off from a clairvoyant has triggered a renewed police search for a Melbourne grandfather who disappeared two years ago.

87-year-old NAOUM KONSTANTINOU disappeared from his Reservoir home in Melbourne's northon July 17, 2000.

For eight days, police searched the area around his home but found no trace of the frail grandfather.

Mr KONSTANTINOU, who had Alzheimer's disease, was presumed dead and a brief was prepared for the coroner.

But police have reopened their investigation after one of his granddaughters visited a psychic at last month's Moonee Valley Festival.

Preston Detective Sergeant ALLAN BROWN says the clairvoyant believes Mr KONSTANTINOU'S body will be found in or near water near his house.

Last Tuesday, a 15-member search team combed Reservoir's Darebin Creek for signs of Mr KONSTANTINOU'S body but found nothing.
