Major search - mounted police, SES and RFS comb Bilpin area for missing local Ken Bellette

Updated: Feb 9, 2022

A large contingent of NSW police, including Hawkesbury Police, the police Rescue Squad, Mounted Police, the Dog Squad, North West Metropolitan Region officers, plus SES and RFS volunteers are in Bilpin scouring bushland up near Bilpin Fruit Bowl in a search for local Kenneth Bellette, - aged 53 - who went missing on January 22.

A senior Hawkesbury Police officer told the Post this afternoon they have around 30 people searching today. If there is no success today, tomorrow they will add around 20 RFS volunteers and another 6 or 7 Public Order Riot Squad officers.

"Kenneth was last sighted on the morning of January 22 grabbing coffee at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl," said the Chief Inspector. "He has not been seen since. We have put out media releases and flyers right across the metropolitan area and up to Lithgow and the Blue Mountains." He said at 3.45pm today, "no luck today as yet".

Mr Bellette was last seen at the Bilpin Fruit Bowl at Bells Line of Road, Bilpin, just before 9am on Saturday 22 January 2022.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command were notified of his disappearance and began inquiries to locate him but he still hasn’t been found.

Family and police hold serious concerns for his welfare due to a medical condition requiring treatment.

Kenneth is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 172cm tall, of medium build, with black hair shaved in a line down the middle of his head. He has a tattoo on his neck, and another faded tattoo on his left arm.

He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured poncho-style jacket, black shorts, black boots and a black beanie.

It’s not the first time Mr Bellette has gone missing – back in May last year police carried out an extensive search and even got PolAir up to look for him in the Bilpin area and he eventually resurfaced. This time he has been missing for much longer, and police and his family are concerned.
