SEARCHERS are now hoping information from the public will help them find a Uki man who has been missing for 12 days.
Search operations for 63-year-old Julian Golding have been scaled down after an extensive land and air search last Friday failed to find any sign of him.
Mr Golding was last seen walking along Murwillumbah Road away from Uki on September 9.
He has suffered several strokes and grave concerns are held for his welfare as he does not have his medication.
Murwillumbah State Emergency Service unit controller Chris Chrisostomos said 38 volunteers and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter scoured the rugged and steep bushland terrain around Mt Warning and Uki on Friday.
“We covered all the track and creek systems, and the chopper spent half the day searching,” Mr Chrisostomos said.
“We had a place he frequented and we radiated our search out from that point. We went bush-bashing.
“At this stage we’re relying on information from the public.
“We don’t know whether he has just left the area.
“We don’t have the manpower or resources to provide an endless search.”
Mr Golding owns a 70ha property on nearby Mt Warning Road at Mt Warning, and police believe he might have got lost either on his property or in nearby bushland. He was reported missing to police on September 15.
Anyone with information on Mr Golding’s where-abouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
