Search for missing man - Uki

Friday, 17 Sep 2010 03:15pm

A search is underway for a man missing in the state’s north since earlier this month.

Julian Golding, 63, was last seen walking along Murwillumbah Road away from Uki on Thursday 9 September.

He has not been heard or seen since and was reported missing to police on Wednesday 15 September.

Mr Golding suffered several strokes a number of years ago and requires daily medication.

NSW Police and family have grave concerns for his welfare as he does not have his medication and his disappearance is totally out of character.

The man owns a 70 hectare property on nearby Mt Warning Road at Mt Warning and police think it possible he might have got lost either on his property or in nearby bushland.

Police have been joined in the search by SES and VRA personnel, National Parks and Wildlife officers, Ambulance SCAT officers and the Lifesaver 4 helicopter.

The area being searched around Mt Warning and Uki is extremely rugged and steep bushland terrain.

The search will continue until nightfall.

Anyone with information about Mr Golding’s whereabouts is urged to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

RESCUE workers are hoping information from the public will help them find a Uki man who has been missing for 12 days.

Search operations for 63-year-old Julian Golding have been scaled down after an extensive land and air search on Friday failed to find any sign of him.

Mr Golding was last seen walking along Murwillumbah Road away from Uki on September 9.

He has suffered several strokes and grave concerns are held for his welfare as he does not have his medication.

Murwillumbah State Emergency Service (SES) unit controller Chris Chrisostomos said 38 volunteers and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter scoured the rugged and steep bushland terrain around Mt Warning and Uki on Friday.

“We covered all the track and creek systems and the chopper spent half the day searching,” Mr Chrisostomos said.

“We had a place he frequented and we radiated our search out from that point; we went bush- bashing.

“At this stage we're relying on information from the public.

“We don't know whether he's just left the area.”
