Circumstances

John Hooper was travelling in a vehicle to Greenwich Park NSW and has not arrived at his destination. John was travelling in a 2004 Ford Courier with QLD registration plates PHD-14. The last known contact made with John indicates he was in Marulan, however, John has not been seen or been in contact with family or friends since.

Police appeal to locate missing 81-year-old – Greenwich Park

The family of a missing 81-year-old man have asked police for help in locating him.

John Hooper was last seen on 18 January when he hired a Ford Courier from a rental company in Mascot. The utility has a Queensland registration of PHD-14.

Police believe he might have headed to a property in Greenwich Park area.

The Matraville resident last spoke with his brother about 10pm on 18 January when he made a phone call from a public phone box in Marulan.

Mr Hooper has not been seen or heard from since that time. Police hold extreme concerns for his welfare due to his age, medical history and the recent hot weather.

He was described to police as being of Caucasian appearance, 152cm tall, of thin build and has a fair complexion. It is not known what type of clothing he was wearing when he was last seen.

Further inquiries and searches of the surrounding Greenwich Park properties today.

Police from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command are investigating Mr Hooper’s disappearance and appeal to anyone who might have seen or spoken the Greenwich Park area will be made today.

Police are this afternoon renewing their appeal for information to locate an 81-year-old man missing from Sydney since early last week.

John Hooper from Matraville was last seen on 18 January when he hired a Toyota Hilux from a rental company in Mascot with a Queensland registration of PHD-14.

Police believe Mr Hooper might have headed to a property in the Greenwich Park area – a small rural community near Marulan on in the State’s south-east.

The Matraville resident last spoke with his brother about 10pm on 18 January when he made a phone call from a public phone box in Marulan.

Mr Hooper has not been seen or heard from since and extreme concerns are held for his welfare due to his age, medical history and the recent hot weather.

He is described to police as being of Caucasian appearance, 152cm tall, of thin build and has a fair complexion. It is not known what clothing he was wearing.

Police continue to conduct searches and make further inquiries in the surrounding Greenwich Park area.

They are also appealing for anyone who has seen Mr Hooper or has information about his disappearance to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
