Police have found
the car of a woman who went missing from Kingswood
earlier this month. Officers have appealed for public assistance as they continue in their efforts to locate 54-year-old Jennifer Keegan, who was last seen on January 5 at her home in Derby Street. Her vehicle, a yellow-coloured 1981-model Datsun Sunny bearing NSW registration plates LID 788, was located last Friday at Govetts Leap Lookout at Blackheath. Police searched the Govetts Leap area and the Blue Mountains National Park, but there has been no sign of Ms Keegan. “Ms Keegan’s disappearance is out of character and police hold grave concerns for her welfare,” police said in a statement. “Ms Keegan is described as being of white/European appearance, about 165cm tall, thin built, with shoulder length reddish-brown hair which is greying.” Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Ms Keegan or has information about her disappearance to contact St Marys Police on 9677 7499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. |
Mystery surrounds woman’s disappearance
Monday, 01 Feb 2010 10:31amInvestigators are seeking clues into the mysterious
disappearance of a woman from western Sydney earlier this
month.
Jennifer Keegan, 52, was last seen at 10.30am on Tuesday (5
January 2010) at her home in Derby Street, Kingswood.
She was reported missing by a neighbour later that day.
Her car, a yellow 1981 Datsun Sunny was found abandoned at
the Govetts Leap car park at Blackheath several days later.
A subsequent search of the area by officers from police
rescue failed to find any other trace of her.
Her car was also forensically examined but did not hold any
further clues as to her whereabouts.
Police have today released CCTV which captured her buying
fuel at a service station on Parker Street at Kingswood on
the afternoon she was last seen.
This is her last known confirmed sighting.
St Marys Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective
Inspector Anthony Holton said her disappearance has her
family and friends deeply worried.
“It is totally out of character for Jennifer to go away for
this period of time without making contact with loved ones,”
Detective Inspector Holton said.
“We have been in close contact with her family in
Queensland, who have told us Jennifer gave no indication
that anything was wrong.
“We are hopeful she is safe but cannot rule out the
possibility of some type of misadventure.
“At this point in the investigation, it is vital we find
someone who might have seen Jennifer or her car at the
Govetts Leap car park.
“We need to establish who parked the car at that location
and, if it was Jennifer, how she left the area.
“Anyone with that information needs to come forward
immediately,” he said.
Ms Keegan is described as being of white/European appearance
being 165cm tall, thin build, with shoulder length reddish
brown hair which is greying.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Ms Keegan
or has information regarding her current whereabouts to
contact them immediately at St Marys Police Station (02)
9677 7499 Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
