“If anyone knows anything please come forward”... Two months after they last heard his voice, George Anderson’s family have issued a new plea to the community to help find their brother.

TWO months after they last heard his voice, George Anderson’s family have issued a new plea to the community to help find their brother.

Mr Anderson, 34, was last seen in the Babinda area on January 19, but has not been heard from since.

His heartbroken family are desperate for answers, including Jane Buchanan who has been raising awareness of Mr Anderson’s case on social media.

“We, his family, are still looking for our brother George Anderson,” she said.

“It has been two months of heartbreak, wondering where the hell he could be.

“If anyone knows anything please come forward.

“You might think it’s nothing as it may be a little thing to you but it could make a big difference and give us some answers.”

Last month, Sky Anderson said her brother had left his phone behind and his bank account had not been touched.

“I just want to say to him come home or get in touch with family,” she said.

“I just want him home safe.

“Sometimes he does stay out of contact, but he’d always be on Facebook so it’s strange that he’s not.

“It’s not the George that we know.”

Police have described Mr Anderson as being Aboriginal in appearance, about 160cm tall with a slim build, brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be is being urged to contact Innisfail CIB on 4061 5749.

Family’s dark theory about whereabouts of missing man

The family of a Babinda man who has been missing for six months are desperate for answers but now believe he met with foul play.

THE family of a Babinda man who has been missing for six months say they now believe he met with foul play.

George Anderson, 34, was last seen on January 19 and his family have had no contact with him since, with his bank accounts remaining untouched.

His sister Sky said they had now accepted Mr Anderson was dead, but think he may have been murdered.

She said he had been “very secretive” about his life sometimes, prompting them to think there may be a more sinister reason behind his disappearance.

“He kept a lot of things from us and I wish he hadn’t,” she said.

“Definitely we (think he was murdered).

“We just hope someone comes forward.”

She said Mr Anderson’s two youngest children, who were in primary school, still continuously asked where dad was and when he was coming home.

“There are no answers really,” she said.

“There is nothing we can say except we love him and we’re trying to find him and find answers.”

Ms Anderson said her brother’s wallet and one of his mobile phones were also missing.

She said the family had travelled down to his Babinda residence in April to look for clues, walking through the property and in nearby bushland.

“We even sat around the river and had a barbecue to try and be close to him,” she said.

The family also visited Cairns to speak with people who knew him and Ms Anderson said it felt like some people were hiding something.

“He had so many friends and no one wants to say anything,” she said.

“Even if they don’t want to give their name they could do it anonymously.

“It’s pretty hard to lose someone like that. We just want to bring him home and lay him to rest.

“We will not stop until we find some answers, we are not giving up.”

Police have said he was still listed as a missing person and inquiries were ongoing.

He is described as Aboriginal in appearance, about 160cm tall and has a slim build, brown hair and brown eyes.

Mr Anderson could possibly travel to Cairns, Townsville, Rockhampton, Mackay or Brisbane.

Anyone who has seen him or knows where he might be is being urged to contact Innisfail CIB on 4061 5749 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.

Missing man George Anderson presumed dead, but his family want answers

The heartbroken family of a missing Far North man who vanished early last year is desperate for closure and is calling for an inquest into his disappearance.

THE heartbroken family of missing Far North man George Anderson is desperate for closure and are calling for an inquest into his disappearance.

The 34-year-old father of four was last seen in the Babinda area on January 19, 2019.

Now, 20 months on, a police spokeswoman confirmed police had “forwarded a report to the coroner”.

“No body has been located and Mr Anderson remains listed as a missing person,” she said.

“Local police conducted extensive inquiries, including searches, and have now submitted their investigation and results to the coroner.

“We can’t provide further information as the matter has been sent to the coroner.”

But Mr Anderson’s family, who live in Mareeba, are not ready to give up hope.

His brother, Edward said the family had been struggling to come to terms with the disappearance and wanted answers.

“We really want some closure, it’s been too long now,” he said.

“It has been very tough on the family, especially his children.

“His son, mainly, has gone off the rails a fair bit because of the disappearance of his father.

“He’s finding it hard to keep it together.”

Determined to do all they can, Mr Anderson’s family had searched his last known location and continues to make regular appeals for information via social media.

Edward Anderson said while his brother often moved around, he would always keep in contact with his family.

He now fears his brother may have met with foul play.

“Someone knows something about his disappearance,” he said.

“We haven’t heard anything about the investigation in months.

“At the time of his disappearance he had a lot of things going for him — like seeing his kids and getting back into boxing.

“That’s why none of it adds up.”

Anyone with information into the disappearance of Mr Anderson is urged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
