Northern Territory police say they will send two detectives to New South Wales to investigate the disappearance of Czech national Lubos Gencur in central Australia.

The last reported sighting of Mr Gencur, 42, was at an isolated camping ground south-west of Alice Springs almost a month ago.

Detective Superintendent Colleen Gwynne says the detectives will work with police in Sydney and Hay in southern NSW to interview people who knew Mr Gencur.

"We just want to speak to anyone who knew him," she said.

"Although they may think they don't have anything that's relevant for the police, it's only after we analyse that information that we can determine if it's relevant for our investigation."

Police say they have conducted an extensive search of an area near Curtain Springs on the road to Yulara, after the last reported sighting of Mr Gencur on December 19 placed him in the region.

Despite using motorcycles, a helicopter, officers on foot and Aboriginal trackers, no sign of Mr Gencur has been found.

Police say several lines of inquiry relating to Mr Gencur's disappearance will continue to be investigated.
