Police search for missing NW man

Tasmanian Police are searching for a 23-year-old north-west man who has been out of contact with his family and friends for almost three weeks.

Angus Robert Cookman from Latrobe is believed to have been visiting the Launceston area, including Longford.

He is about 180 centimetres tall, of muscular build, with brown eyes and hair and a fair complexion.

Inspector Lachie Avery says there are concerns for Mr Cookman's welfare.

"He simply hasn't made any communication with any of his family or any of his friends, and he has probably got a tendency to be a bit of a loner," he said.

"What we are imploring is that he makes contact with his family to tell them that he is safe."

A COASTAL family is concerned for the welfare of their 23-year-old son.

Angus Robert Cookman, of Latrobe, has been reported missing by his family.

His mother spoke to him by phone on November 18.

Police say his family is not only worried about him, but also wishes to update him in relation to a close family member's serious illness.

Described as 182cm tall, of muscular build, with brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion, Mr Cookman is said to be a loner.

Police said he may be driving a red 1986 Nissan Skyline sedan with the registration number CJ3996.

They also believe Mr Cookman may have been visiting the greater Launceston area, including Longford.

Anyone with information on Mr Cookman's whereabouts is asked to contact police on 131444.

POLICE and the family of a missing young man have pleaded for help from the public.

Angus Robert Cookman, 23, of Latrobe, was last in contact with his family on November 18 when he spoke to his mother by phone.

Tasmania Police said Mr Cookman's family were concerned for his welfare and wanted to bring him up to date on a close relative's serious illness.

Mr Cookman is described as 182cm tall, of muscular build and with brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion.

He was described as a bit of a loner.

He had access to a red 1986 Nissan Skyline sedan CJ 3996.

Mr Cookman was believed to be visiting the greater Launceston area, including Longford.
