Circumstances of Disappearance
Jean Climas vanished in Mosman Park in 1969.
Described as quiet and shy, she was 20 when she moved into a 5 storey block of flats possibly on Murray Avenue 15 minutes walk from Victoria Street (train) Station in Mosman Park and worked in a nearby deli.
Miss Climas left her children, aged six months and 18 months, in Bendigo, Victoria and moved to Mosman Park, in April 1969, in the company of a man. He got a job at Renaware, selling pots and pans, then apparently left Mosman Park alone after a few months and drove north and eventually to South Australia.
Jean Climas has not been heard from since her move to Mosman Park, and all efforts to locate her have proven fruitless.

Mosman links to missing woman

Bendigo detectives looking for information on a woman who vanished in Mosman Park in 1969 have spoken to dozens of local people. The woman, Jean Climas, also known as Jean Shaw, was 20 when she moved into a flat in Mosman Park and worked in a local deli.  Detective Brendon Murphy said: "I have been through the electoral roll for 1969 and I have located people in every street in Mosman Park. "I have also spoken to people who worked in every Mosman Park delicatessen that year."  Miss Climas left her children, aged six months and 18 months, in Bendigo and moved to Mosman Park.  They have asked police to investigate her disappearance.  She was travelling with Bobby Shaw, also known as Bobby Smith, who got a job at Renware, selling pots and pans.  Detective Murphy said Mr Shaw/Smith left Mosman Park after a few months and drove north and eventually to South Australia.

Det Murphy said: "Anybody who might have met her or worked with her can reach me on (03) 5440 2540."

**Jean's daughter would like to send this message to her Mum -

"My name is Belinda, I was adopted in 1965 and this is my birth mother, Jean Climas, (nee Batten)  I would dearly love to find her and let her know that she has 2 beautiful grandchildren,  I have 2 sons, one turning 18 this month and the other 21.
I have had a wonderful life with my parents and would just like to let Jean know that I am happy and safe, I do not want to interfere with her life or interrupt any family she may have gone on to have, but I would love to have some contact even if only a friendly letter to say hi."
