Police investigating the disappearance of a Chinese student spent yesterday
searching headland at North Bondi.
Chaojin Xing (pronounced Chow-gin-zing), aged 18, was last seen in Sydney's CBD
on Sunday 24 May 2009. Investigators have established he arrived at Bondi
Junction by train from Hurstville about 1pm the following day (Monday 25 May).
A pair of shoes and a backpack containing his passport, other identification and
cash was located on a rock platform near the water's edge at the base of a cliff
at Ben Buckler Point on Tuesday 2 June.
Further investigations revealed the items had been there since at least Friday
29 May.
Several searches of the area, including the one yesterday, have been conducted
by officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command, with the assistance of
Police Rescue, the Marine Area Command and PolAir.
Investigators do not believe the man's disappearance is suspicious but are
appealing for the public's help to shed further light on what might have
happened to him.
Mr Xing, a Chinese National, came to Sydney in January this year to study
information technology. He has not attended his college since Tuesday 19 May.
His parents arrived in Sydney from China on Tuesday (9 June) as they attempt to
find answers regarding his whereabouts. They have not spoken with their son
since Friday 22 May and describe his disappearance as totally out of character.
He is described as Asian in appearance, 171cm tall, medium build, fair
complexion, clean shaven with curly/wavy brown shoulder-length hair. His
backpack is black with fluorescent yellow parts.
Investigators urge anyone who might have seen Mr Xing in the area of Ben Bucker
Point to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police investigating the disappearance of a Chinese student have released CCTV
images of his last known movements.
Investigators have now determined Chaojin Xing (pronounced Chow-gin-zing), aged
18, arrived at Bondi Junction by train from Hurstville about 1.20pm on Monday,
25 May.
CCTV images show him boarding a 333 pre-paid bus. The bus route ends at North
Bondi shops.
