On 1 December 2022, Swiss national Peter Baggenstos set sail on his 13m yacht the Lady Lay from Bellerive TAS bound for New Zealand. On 5 December 2022, the Lady Lay’s AIS transponder stopped transmitting about 140km off Tasmania’s east coast in the Tasman Sea. Large scale searches in the Tasman Sea were subsequently conducted for Peter and the Lady Lay however neither were located.

There has been no trace of Peter since 5 December 2022 and serious concerns are held for his safety.
